All six and seven year olds need to see and experience that learning is fun! I strive to teach to the whole child-incorporating a 'brain building' classroom experience and strategies. My seventh and eighth grade teachers instilled in me proper discussion skills and deep analytical thinking skills that have carried me through my freshman year.

At Pilgrim Chicago, learning takes place through child-centered activities in an accepting environment. The average Pilgrim 8th grade achievement test score is consistently three grade levels ahead of the national norm. Pilgrim receives a share of federal money to provide tutoring for diverse learners.

Pilgrim offers play-based Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs that are designed to help children feel safe and loved. We do not set arbitrary universal goals, but rather, we support children as they achieve their individual goals. Our 1:10 teacher to student ratio in Pre-K and our 1:16 teacher to student ratio in Kindergarten, allow students to receive the attention they need to grow and learn.
